HEADACHE









- Also called Cephalalgia, a kind of pain in the region of head & neck.

- Several types of headaches. Some are harmless and some are life - threatening.
-  Broadly two types => Primary & Secondary


  •   PRIMARY

 -  This type usually first start when people are between 20 and 40 years old.

 Migraine, Usually on one side of head with pressure behind one eye. Result Pain gets worse with            normal physical activity.
Sinus, Around eyes, cheekbones, forehead and bridge of nose. Result Leaning over, sudden movement or exercising may make the headache worse.
Tension, On both sides or all over the head.Result, Physical activity does not make headache worse.
Cluster,On One side of the face, head or neck . Result Lying down make it worse.


  • SECONDARY 

   -  This type may be caused by problems elsewhere in the head or neck.

Meningitis, Inflammation of the meninges which presets with fever or stiff neck.
Bleeding inside the brain , Also called Intracranial hemorrhage.
Subarachniod hemorrhage  (Acute. severe headache, Stiff neck without fever)
Ruptured aneurysm, Arteriovenous malformation, Intraparenchymal hemorrhage.
Brain tumor , Dull headache, worse with exertion and change in position.
Temporal arteritis, An inflammation disease of arteries common in the elderly with fever, headache, weight loss, Jaw claudication.
Acute closed angle glaucoma, Increased pressure in eye ball. Headache starts with eye pain, blurry vision, associated with nausea and vomiting.
